Mark Lawrenson predicts Liverpool v Southampton
By Dominic Toner
Mark Lawrenson has backed Liverpool to beat Southampton 2-0 in their upcoming Premier League clash.
The Reds host the Saints on Sunday in the league and will be looking to strengthen their position in the top-four places.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are trying to seal their position in the Champions League for next season and are currently third-placed in the table.
The Merseyside club are guaranteed a top-four finish if they win their three remaining fixtures and have picked up nine points from their last four games.
Lawrenson believes that Liverpool will manage to edge past the Saints at Anfield and claims revenge will be on the cards.

“Liverpool got a good win at Watford last time out which means they have taken nine points from their past four games,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport. “Yes, they will feel they should have beaten Crystal Palace at Anfield too, but that is still a decent haul and makes losing to the Eagles easier to swallow.
“The Reds owe Saints after they lost to them in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup, and I think they will get some revenge.”
The two teams played out a goalless draw in the previous league meeting this season, but also clashed twice in the EFL Cup semi-finals.
Southampton managed to win both home and away legs with 1-0 scorelines, before eventually losing to Manchester United in the final.
However, Claude Puel’s side will take great spirits going into the weekend and the 9th-placed side are still trying to secure a top-10 finish.
