Mark Noble delivers bold verdict on Tottenham ahead of West Ham clash

By Dominic Toner

West Ham captain Mark Noble has described Tottenham as the best team in the Premier League ahead of their Premier League clash on Friday night.

Spurs travel to the London Stadium for an important league clash as they look to keep up their pursuit of the title.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are second-placed in the table and are trying to close down the four-point gap to leaders Chelsea, who don’t play until Monday against Middlesbrough.

Noble has made the bold statement that Spurs are the best team in the division, despite them trailing leaders Chelsea for the majority of the campaign.

The north London club have won their last nine consecutive top-flight games and are biding to catch Chelsea to win their first ever Premier League title.

Noble will hoping the Hammers can cause a dent in Spurs’ league aspirations, but is expecting a very difficult match.

“They are a very good side without many weaknesses at all, but it’s a derby, we’re at home and we need to be at 100 per cent to be able to get a result,” Noble said, as quoted by the club’s official website. “We are going to need to be solid tonight because, although Chelsea are top, I think with the way they play and the way they are set up, for me Spurs are the best team in the league at the minute.

“Hopefully, we’ll play as well as we can do and give Spurs a proper game, because that’s what the fans expect and that’s what we’ll try and give them.”

Spurs are currently in sensational form and Pochettino is hoping to win his first piece of silverware at White Hart Lane.

However, they now come up against a West Ham side that beat them last season in their away fixtures, despite the game being played at the Boleyn Ground.

Slaven Bilic’s side have struggled since their move to the London Stadium and Friday night’s game is viewed as their biggest remaining fixture this season, with the club 15th-placed in the table.

Spurs will start the game as strong favourites, though, and will be hoping the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen can continue their great form.
