Martin Odegaard and three other Arsenal stars at risk after confirmed news - Campbell

Kevin Campbell has suggested four Arsenal players’ positions are under threat following the arrival of Fabio Vieira.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker said the 22-year-old could replace Martin Odegaard, Granit Xhaka, Emile Smith Rowe or Gabriel Martinelli in the starting XI.

On Wednesday (21 June), Arsenal confirmed the signing of Vieira from FC Porto on a permanent deal.

The left-footed midfielder has put pen to paper on a long-term contract at the Emirates after a £34.2million transfer package was agreed.

Vieira is capable of operating as an a number eight, a number 10 and out wide.

When asked by Football Insider where he expected the Portuguese midfielder to slot in at Arsenal, Campbell said:

“If we are going to be able to compete at that top level we need to create more and we need to score more. He is a young lad who has impressive numbers.

“Whether it is Smith Rowe, Xhaka or Odegaard, we need competition for places.

“It is good to see Arsenal make a move on a player that nobody knows that much about. I have seen him a little but I don’t know much.

“He seems very committed though. A quality player who works hard as well. A good signing.”

Vieira was one of the standout players in Portugal last season.

He contributed seven goals and 16 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions.
