Alan Hutton insists that Ryan Kent has got a “massive choice” to make if Rangers accept a bid from Leeds United to let him leave Ibrox this summer.

The former Gers defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, has drawn on his own experience of leaving the Light Blues for Tottenham and how he rejected the north Londoners multiple times before moving.

Gerrard confirmed at his press conference last week that the Glasgow giants had rejected Leeds’ opening offer for the 23-year-old and issued a “hands-off” warning to the Whites.

As revealed by Football Insider, the Premier League side are set to up their offer for Kent as they look to bolster their attacking options this summer.

Hutton, who still holds the record as Rangers’ most expensive player sale, believes Rangers will be willing to sell if the price is right and suggests it could be difficult for Kent to refuse a move was a bid to be accepted.

Hutton told Football Insider: “The same thing happened to me, I turned down Tottenham multiple times, I didn’t want to go, I told the manager I didn’t want to go and I didn’t.

“At the end of the day, if Rangers agree on a fee, they’ve agreed on a fee and they’re willing to let you go so it’s kind of out of your hands a little bit.

“I’m reading all the reports on what he’s saying and he’s doing and saying the right things which I totally respect but it’s going to come down to the fee at the end of the day and if it’s big enough, I presume Rangers will accept it.

“I remember it like it was yesterday. I turned them down multiple times, I was Rangers through and through and I never wanted to leave but when Rangers come and say: ‘Look, we’ve accepted this bid,’ it is what it is. It’s a massive choice he’s got to make.”

Kent joined Rangers from Liverpool for a fee of around £7million last summer after he spent a season on loan at Ibrox.

He has a total of 17 goals and 13 assists from his 81 appearances for the club.

In other Rangers news, Hutton has made a major £16million transfer claim at Ibrox.
