'Massive' Jack Grealish claim made after Man City confession - pundit
Alex McLeish has tipped Jack Grealish to make a “massive impression” for Man City next season after an “indifferent” 2021/22 campaign.
The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 26-year-old will be motivated by his “crucial” contributions in City’s Premier League title win.
As quoted by the Mirror (9 June), Grealish confessed he had “played it a bit safe” during his first season at City and that he plays with “a lot more freedom” when on England duty.
McLeish admitted Grealish failed to hit the heights expected of him after his £100million move from Aston Villa last summer.
However, he suggested the attacking midfielder will be hungry to prove his doubters wrong next term.
McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “The way he finished, he made crucial appearances in the last few games.

“I think his hunger will now be increased. Next season, he’ll be saying: ‘People last season were calling me a little bit indifferent. It was indifferent criticism.’
“I believe that he’ll want to make a massive impression next season. Especially, as I said, with the way he finished the season.
“On a high, contributing to winning those games that really mattered and winning the title for City.”
Grealish played 39 times during the 21/22 campaign, with six goals and four assists under his belt.
One of those goals came in the 2-2 draw with West Ham in City’s penultimate game of the season.
He started 22 times in 26 Premier League appearances, including in seven of the last 11 matches.
