12 assists from midfield: Three Rosenborg players Celtic must watch out for in CL showdown

Celtic have it all to do in their second-leg Champions League tie against Rosenborg on Wednesday night as they travel to Norway with the scoreline still deadlocked at 0-0.

Brendan Rodgers watched on as his side were held to a 0-0 draw at Parkhead seven days ago, with the lack of a striker a main factor in the Hoops' failure to break Rosenborg down.

The 48-time Scottish Champions must now travel to the Lerkendal Stadium with the hope that they can go one better and secure victory, despite being away from home.

Karl Ingebrightsen's side have just passed the halfway mark in their 2017 campaign, sitting pretty at the top of the table and five points clear of second-placed Sarpsborg.

Rosenborg sat behind the ball and looked to frustrate the Hoops last time out, but it is likely to be a very different story on home soil as they are expected to take the game to Celtic.

With that in mind, Football Insider analyses the three biggest attacking threats in the Rosenborg side that Celtic must keep an eye on, including a midfielder who has provided 12 assists in 26 matches this season:

Milan Jevtovic

The Serbian is a crucial part of Rosenborg's deadly front three, lining up on the right flank alongside what will is likely to be Nicklas Bendtner and Yann-Erik de Lanlay.

Best known for his pace and low centre of gravity, the 24-year-old has been pivotal in Rosenborg's 2017 campaign with nine goals and six assists in 21 appearances.

That kind of form has seen the Norwegian giants shoot to the top of the table and Kieran Tierney must do all he can to keep him under control come Wednesday evening.

Fredrik Midtsjo

One-time Norway international Midtsjo was kept largely quiet during the opening leg with Celtic retaining a large chunk of possession.

However, the 23-year-old midfielder is currently enjoying his best form as part of a midfield three, with his close control and ability to play in the front three serving him well from deep.

Scoring three goals, Midtsjo's creativity is also a key weapon in the Rosenborg side with nine assists this season and it will be Scott Brown's job to prevent him from adding to that tally.

Mike Jensen

Slightly older than most of the Rosenborg squad, 29-year-old Jensen will lead his side out as captain against Celtic as the Denmark international looks to guide his side towards qualification.

Celtic must be wary, more than most, of his presence in the middle of the park. This season, Jensen has laid on a huge 12 assists during 26 outings despite anchoring the midfield.

That vision and creativity from deep starts the foundations of Rosenborg's attacks, and man marking the former Brondby ace could be pivotal in seeing Celtic qualify.
