Ally McCoist has slammed Rangers for their poor recruitment management after an exciting talent was shipped away for the season.

There is a dark and menacing cloud hanging over the Ibrox after Rangers fans called for Russell Martin to be sacked after a 2-0 defeat to Hearts (13 September).

Contrastingly, former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has urged the Rangers owners to back Martin despite the unrest amongst the Gers faithful.

Yet, when Rangers fans chanted “you're getting sacked in the morning” with Hearts supporters on the weekend, it seems pretty indicative that many have had enough with the Englishman.

Ex-Teddy Bears striker McCoist hinted towards the club's poor transfer decisions as just one of the many reasons for the club's shocking start to the season.

Oscar Cortes decision frustrates Ally McCoist as Rangers splashed the cash with little to show

Speaking on talkSPORT (15 September), the Scotsman was angered by the state of his previous club as he cited the transfer strategy as one of the culprits.

McCoist was alarmed by the amount spent by the Glaswegian outfit as well as the club's choice to send exciting winger Oscar Cortes out on loan for the season instead of retaining him at the Ibrox.

The former forward said: "They’ve [Rangers] probably brought in about, I don’t know, £25million, whatever it may be.

"But this is the problem, mate. They’ve spent a lot of money as well.

"[Youssef] Chermiti for £10m who gave the lad a chance only to come off the bench at the weekend, so very, very difficult to gauge.

"You spend £4m on [Oliver] Antman and [Thelo] Aasgaard another £3.5m.

"This is the one I can’t believe, he spent £4.5m on Oscar Cortes and put him out on loan, I mean that is just unacceptable, absolutely unacceptable recruitment."

Rangers' incomings struggling as Russell Martin increasingly under the microscope

Considering the array of talent that Martin picked up during the summer window, many of the new arrivals have failed to hit the ground running.

Mikey Moore's exciting loan move from Tottenham has already fallen flat with fellow Premier League player Nasser Djiga alarmingly inconsistent.

Antman's initial burst of brilliance in the Champions League quickly subsided and Aasgaard has struggled to replicate his immense form for Norway.

Thus far, only Djeidi Gassama has maintained his superb start to life in Glasgow but has also suffered due to the poor form of the Gers.

I worry for the former Southampton manager that this job is getting far too big for him given the immense expectation and pressure that comes with being the Rangers boss.

Time is running out for the Englishman as struggling new players mixed with diabolical tactics are creating a recipe for disaster.
