Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Aston Villa to sign Wilfried Zaha on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa's record Premier League goalscorer claimed Zaha is exactly what Unai Emery's side are missing on the left side of their attack.

The 30-year-old is out of contract at Crystal Palace at the end of the season and is set to leave for free next summer.

The London Evening Standard reported (2 November) that the winger has been verbally offered a new deal by Palace that would include a pay rise on his current £130,000-a-week wages.

As quoted by London News Online (5 November), Zaha insisted he is not "overthinking" his future at his boyhood club and was taking each game as it comes.

Birmingham Live reported (19 November) that Aston Villa are the bookies' favourite to sign the Ivory Coast international.

Asked for his verdict on a move for Zaha, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: "Wilfried Zaha is a top player.

"Any club in the Premier League would love to have him.

"If Villa can get him on a free transfer it would be a great signing. He is what we are missing on that left side."

Zaha has scored 89 times and provided 75 assists in 443 games across all competitions for Crystal Palace.

He already has six goals and two assists in 13 Premier League appearances this term.
