Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted it would be "ridiculous" if David Moyes is not offered a new contract at West Ham.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Scot, 60, deserves renewed terms after transforming the Irons since returning for a second spell in 2019.

West Ham

It is believed his future is up in the air once again after he came close to leaving during the off-season.

The uncertainty comes despite Moyes leading West Ham to their first major European triumph just months ago as they lifted the Europa Conference League trophy after beating Fiorentina in Prague.

The ex-Man United and Everton boss is currently out of contract at the London Stadium at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think they have to give him a new contract.

“It’s disgraceful if they don’t. He’s just won them their first trophy in many years, they’re in and around the top seven fighting - I don’t see why he wouldn’t get a new deal.

“The West Ham fans were complaining at the start of the season, but then they picked up and they look like a good team.

“I think they have to give him a new deal. With what he’s done for the club, it's huge, he deserves one.”

West Ham

West Ham sit ninth in the Premier League after losing back-to-back top-flight games against Everton and Aston Villa at the end of October.

The Irons sit top of Group A in the Europa League despite a 2-1 defeat in Greece against Olympiakos in their last continental fixture.
