David Moyes' job at West Ham will only come under pressure if they are still struggling at the beginning of next season and are not drawn into a "silly relegation battle" this term.

That is the view of ex-Aston Villa and England attacker Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Moyes' future.

After back-to-back seasons finishing in the European places, the Irons have struggled this term and finished the first part of the season down in 16th place, just a point above the relegation zone.

The Irons had a busy summer transfer window, investing over £150million on players including Gianluca Scamacca, Lucas Paqueta, Nayef Ageurd, Maxel Cornet, Thilo Kehrer and Flynn Downes.

Co-chairman Sullivan likes to use specific agents in recruitment while Moyes has his own methods for bringing in players.

Asked whether the Scot's job should be under pressure, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: "I don't think so, no.

"The credit runs out in October or November of next year if they are having another season where they are struggling. That's when I think he gets sacked.

"For this season, as long as it's not a silly relegation battle, I think he'll be fine. I think he's got credit in the bank."

West Ham

Moyes has a 42.86 per cent win rate as West Ham manager across his two spells in charge.

The 59-year-old took over the club for a second time in December 2019 and guided them to the Europa League semi-final last season.
