Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed no Aston Villa youngsters will force their way into Unai Emery's plans during the World Cup break.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa's record Premier League goalscorer insisted Jacob Ramsey will play a part under Emery but no other academy players will follow in his footsteps.

Aston Villa returned to action with a 3-1 loss to Cardiff City in a friendly game last week (30 November) that was organised to honour the memory of Peter Whittingham who played for both clubs.

With a number of players away representing their countries at the World Cup and out injured, Emery handed game time to some inexperienced youngsters.

Filip Marshall, Sebastian Revan, Tommi O'Reilly, Lamare Bogarde, Arjan Raikhy, Josh Feeney and Kadan Young, none of whom have featured in the Premier League, all played a part at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Ramsey is a well-established member of Aston Villa's first team and scored his side's goal in south Wales.

"There will be youngsters who are trying to push their way into the first team but it is very difficult," Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

"Aston Villa have a lot of very experienced players who Unai Emery will want to play.

"Jacob Ramsey will, for sure, be in Unai Emery's plans."

Aston Villa

Aston Villa return to competitive action on Boxing Day when they welcome Liverpool to Villa Park.

They are currently 12th in the Premier League table after winning both of their top flight games under Emery before the break for the World Cup.
