'Ancelotti is the pull...' - Exclusive: Everton tipped to sign Real Madrid superstar
Paul Robinson backs Carlo Ancelotti to reignite James Rodriguez's career were Everton to sign the attacker this summer.
The former Spurs and Blackburn Rovers keeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, insisted the 28-year-old is a "realistic target" with the Italian at the helm.
Rodriguez has failed to hit the heights following his meg-money move to Real Madrid in the wake of being crowned top scorer at the 2014 World Cup.
According to Marca, the Colombian is surplus to requirements in Madrid and Ancelotti is set to swoop for the player he signed from Monaco whilst manager at the Bernabeu in 2014.
Robinson expects an exciting summer at Goodison Park with the club now able to attract a totally different calibre of player.
"Ancelotti can get the best out of any player," he told Football Insider.
"He is the pull for Everton. It is a completely different Everton going into the transfer market with Ancelotti at the helm.
"All of a sudden you are putting names like Rodriguez in the same sentence as Everton. Before, you would not have done. He is a realistic target because of the manager.
"However, he has been widely touted quite regularly so it will be interesting to see where he is. He is a top player."
Rodriguez, who spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich, has struggled for game time this campaign. Zinedine Zidane has only deployed the playmaker on 13 occasions and a summer exit now looks inevitable.
The former Porto and Monaco midfielder's contract is expiring in June 2021 so the Spanish giants may look to sell Rodriguez rather than lose him on a free next summer.
