John Terry has been ruled out of Chelsea's Premier League clash against Arsenal on Saturday.

Stamford Bridge manager Antonio Conte revealed at his press conference on Friday afternoon that the club captain has not recovered from the foot injury that he sustained against Swansea 12 days ago.

The official Chelsea quoted Conte as saying that Terry will take no part in the mouthwatering showdown at Emirates Stadium.

Terry's absence means that Gary Cahill and David Luiz are set to be paired together in central defence for the third consecutive match.

Chelsea conceded four goals in the other two clashes, a 2-1 defeat in the Premier League to Liverpool a week ago and a 4-2 triumph over Leicester in the League Cup on Wednesday night.

Conte's side appeared to miss the organisational and leadership skills of Terry, 35, in each of those two matches.

The veteran started the Londoners' first four league matches of the season, which yielded three wins and a draw.

In other Arsenal team news, a key Gunners player will be sidelined for the next month after new tests.
