Mathieu Flamini is set for three weeks on the sidelines with the hamstring injury he sustained on Wednesday night, Football Insider sources understands.

The midfielder has been ruled out of Arsenal's Premier League trip to Everton by manager Arsene Wenger and is a doubt for the clash against Watford on 2 April.

An Arsenal source has told Football Insider that Flamini is set to be out for three weeks with the latest soft tissue injury to be suffered by a Gunners player in another injury-plagued season for the team.

Arsenal crashed out of Europe's premier competition three days after Watford knocked them out of the FA Cup to leave their silverware hopes this season resting upon clawing back an 11-point gap on leaders Leicester.

Flamini started in central midfield alongside Mohamed Elneny in midweek but was substituted at half-time, when he was replaced by Francis Coquelin.

"Well, the other night we lost Mathieu Flamini with a hamstring injury, so he will be out,’ Wenger said on Friday. "He will be replaced by [Calum] Chambers. Everybody else should be available. We have a check-up this morning, but all the other signs look quite positive.

"The players who will definitely be back from injury [after the international break] will be Ramsey, Cech and maybe Flamini."

Wenger is now likely to start Elneny and Coquelin in central midfield at Goodison Park on Saturday.
