Arsenal will not activate Victor Osimhen's £68million release clause in the January transfer window, sources close to the club have told Football Insider.

The Gunners are long-term admirers of the Nigeria international - who went on loan to Galatasaray last month after failing to agree a Premier League or Saudi switch.

There is a break clause in the season-long loan which allows Osimhen to join a third club in January.

Napoli director Mauro Meluso has recently revealed the Turkey loan was a “last-minute solution so he would not lose the first three months of the season”.

“We will see in January,” he added – opening the door to a potential swoop from his long-term admirers.

However, Football Insider revealed on Monday (14 October) that Chelsea will find a deal too difficult to do in the mid-season window.

Financial Fair Play and Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) are still a concern for the Stamford Bridge club.

Arsenal are also set to decline the chance to bring Osimhen to the Emirates Stadium - meaning it is likely the saga over his long-term future is set to run until next summer.

The Gunners had lined up a striker signing in the most recent window but failed to land their top targets.
