Arsenal youngster Gedion Zelalem is wanted by League One leaders Bolton Wanderers in a loan deal, according to a report.

ESPN claim that the 19-year-old is wanted in the north west and could be on his way to work under Phil Parkinson.

This would not be the first time that Bolton have loaned a player from the Gunners, with the likes of Jack Wilshere, Benik Afobe and Ryo Miyaichi all making the switch in recent years.

Zelalem spent last season on loan at Rangers, where he helped the Scottish giants to promotion back into the top flight, managing eight assists in 28 appearances across all competitions.

The German-born USA youngster is known for his passing abilities and slender build, and has caught the eye of Gunners fans during numerous pre-season matches over the last few campaigns. He has made two first-team appearances for the north London club.

“Last season he was on loan at Glasgow Rangers, where he did quite well. He is a player with top quality,” Arsene Wenger told Arsenal’s website.

“He might take a bit longer to mature because he was physically a little bit behind on body structure but I’m sure he will be a great player. He [matured a bit slowly] physically but overall I’m convinced that he will make a great career.”

He has made five appearances for USA's Under-23 side and is tipped to make the first-team set-up in his career.
