Arsenal are plotting a big-money move to sign Newcastle United star Alexander Isak in the summer of 2025 to solve their striker issues.

This is according to former Man United, Tottenham and Sunderland scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game and who, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, dubbed the 25-year-old "one of the best in the world."

This comes amid growing questions about Kai Havertz's performances as the 25-year-old has now gone three league games without a goal in a stretch which has seen his side fail to win a game.

He also failed to provide much threat going forward as the Gunners lost 1-0 to Inter Milan in the Champions League on 6 November.

Meanwhile, Isak scored the winning goal against Arsenal at St James' Park last weekend with a thumping header past David Raya, and is continuing to prove his worth.

The Sweden international has established himself as one of the most highly regarded strikers in Europe and has scored in each of the Magpies' last three games.

Those performances have piqued Arsenal's interest once more, with the club having been interested during the transfer window before they opted against making a move.

Now, the former scout who spent over a decade at Old Trafford during their most successful period and has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment has insisted the Gunners want to sign a big-name striker to resolve their issues.

"Yes, I've heard Arsenal are still looking at him," he told Football Insider.

"I think he's as good as anybody, he's one of the best in the world for me, and he'd be an asset to pretty much any team.

"For any top clubs who need a centre-forward, he certainly fits that bill.

"He can run with the ball, he can hold it up and bring his teammates into play, he can create, and he scores goals.

"There aren't many strikers in the world that can do those things as well as he does.

"His concerns at Newcastle could mean he becomes available next summer, and if he decides he wants to move, they might not have much of a choice but to let him go.

"So, if Arsenal want to replace Havertz because he's been frustrating recently, Isak could well be the man they look to in the transfer market."
