Arsenal have triggered an “incredible” spending spree following their latest deals at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal signed Piero Hincapie on loan from Bayer Leverkusen on deadline day (1 September), with the deal including a £45million option to buy him permanently next summer.

It comes after Eberechi Eze joined Arsenal from Crystal Palace in a deal worth £67.5million after beating Tottenham to his signature.

Meanwhile, the Gunners have looked to solve their long-term striker problems after Viktor Gyokeres signed from Sporting Lisbon in a £64million deal.

Kepa ArrizabalagaMartin ZubimendiChristian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera and Noni Madueke have also joined Mikel Arteta’s side this summer, taking their overall spending beyond £250million.

Arsenal got 'carried away' after signing spree

This article contains exclusive comment from Stefan Borson, a former financial adviser to Man City.

Arsenal managed to move on some fringe players before the transfer window closed, with Oleksandr Zinchenko agreeing a last-ditch loan to Nottingham Forest

Jakub Kiwior, Reiss Nelson and Fabio Viera also completed loan moves on the final day as the Gunners looked to trim their squad following their heavy spending.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “Well, they're able to spend because financially they've been very successful over the last few years.

“They have been quite cautious in the way that they've spent.

“I think towards their fans they've suggested that they've got PSR restrictions.

“I don't think that's ever really been true, and they're going for it.

“I think most of the league at the top is feeling the strain of competition, and I think people have come to the conclusion if they don't spend, you're not going to win the biggest prizes.

“So, I think people have got slightly carried away this summer.

“I think that the spending is really quite incredible.”

Arsenal agree last-gasp Fabio Viera deal

Elsewhere, Viera completed a loan move to Hamburg before the window closed after it was clear he wasn’t in Arteta’s plans at the Emirates.

The Bundesliga club have an option to buy the 25-year-old for £17.3million if he performs well in Germany this season.

The midfielder has struggled to make much of an impact since joining Arsenal from Porto in a £34million deal in 2022.
