Aston Villa fans react on Twitter as senior man leaves the club

It was announced on Friday that Brad Guzan had joined Middlesbrough - and Aston Villa fans celebrated the exit of the goalkeeper on Twitter.

Guzan is said to have agreed a two-year contract with the newly-promoted Premier League outfit.

Villa have sanctioned the exit of Guzan after his form slipped alarmingly over the last 24 months and they conceded 76 goals last season in their relegation from the Premier League.

Continuous mistakes, poor distribution and a lack of confidence has led to the American’s downfall, despite being named the club’s player of the year for the 2012-13 season.

Youngster Pierluigi Gollini will now take the No.1 gloves as manager Roberto Di Matteo plans to win instant promotion back to the top-flight of English football.

Coincidentally, Guzan's new club will play Aston Villa on Saturday and the USA international could be set to make his debut for his old club against his new club.

In other Aston Villa transfer news, Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo is willing to allow midfielder Jordan Veretout to leave the club on loan.
