Aston Villa fans were disgusted with Leandro Bacuna after he marred their 1-0 Championship victory when he headbutted a linesman.

Bacuna angrily confronted the official and appeared to nudge his head in his direction after a decision didn't go his way.

Referee Andy Madley showed the 25-year-old a straight red card for his mindless act.

Fans were not happy with Bacuna on Twitter after the game, although the wrath he would have faced would have been a lot worse if the 10 men failed to hang on to the win.

Here is a selection of tweets from Aston Villa fans about the midfielder's red card:

Despite the lack of discipline shown by Bacuna in the final stages of the game, Villa hung on to win 1-0 after a first half goal from James Chester.

It was Villa's first win in nine league games, with their last coming againt Burton Albion on Boxing Day.

However, Sunday's headlines will not be about an impressive win, but this hot-headed incident which not only disgraced an important victory, but also what was a very good performance from Bacuna.

The player could now face a lengthy ban. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was handed a four-match ban when he shoved the fourth official in January.
