'Banter years spin-off' - Rangers fans react on Twitter as Hearts beat Hibernian
Former Rangers stars Kyle Lafferty and Steven Naismith struck in Wednesday night's Edinburgh derby to secure a 2-1 win for Hearts over rivals Hibernian - and Gers fans were delighted as it effectively secures a Europa League place for the Light Blues next season.
The ex-Gers scored either side of a Florian Kamberi penalty to mean Hibs can only now draw level with Rangers on points in the Scottish Premiership but trail the Light Blues by ten goals - meaning Hibs need to beat the Gers by six clear goals to overhaul them in the table.
Gers fans were delighted with the result since it took a little bit of the pressure off Sunday's meeting with Neil Lennon's side, although the Light Blues could still seal second with a win and Aberdeen losing to Celtic.
Here are some of their comments on Twitter:
The Gers will be likely to begin their Europa League campaign on July 12th in the First Round but could still get handed a spot in the next round instead - if the pip Aberdeen to second and Celtic win the Scottish Cup.
Not getting into Europe would have been considered an absolute disaster for the Gers in a season that most fans just want to end now.
