Bashir Humphreys 'is ready' to complete Leeds move - pundit

Frank McAvennie

Celtic and West Ham legend Frank McAvennie joined the Football Insider stable in June 2020 and has not disappointed with his own brand of unique punditry. He loves talking football almost as much as he loved scoring goals, and still has close links in the dressing room at Parkhead.

Bashir Humphreys should make the move from Chelsea to Leeds United due to limited first-team opportunities at the Premier League giants.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, ex-West Ham and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie believes Humphreys, 21, should leave his boyhood club and make a name for himself elsewhere.

The English defender has featured twice for Chelsea, once in the FA Cup and once in the League Cup but doesn't seem to be part of Enzo Maresca's plans moving forwards.

Chelsea currently have 43 first-team players on their books while in stark contrast Leeds United only have 20, making them the smallest squad in the Championship.

Leeds United look to sign another youngster in Bashir Humphreys

The West Yorkshire club narrowly missed out on promotion back to the Premier League last season and have since had their squad picked apart.

"This guy has been at Chelsea and he's trained with some top players", said McAvennie speaking to Football Insider.

"He'll be ready for Leeds, he's 21 and if you're 21 you'll never be ready (to play for Chelsea).

"He will be bursting at the seams to get his name out there and come back to Chelsea with his head held high.

"I think it's a dream kind of situation for the boy to go out there and do something.

"It's a win-win for Leeds if they sign him on loan, if he doesn't hack it they can send him back."
