Tottenham are reportedly still in the running to sign Divock Origi from Liverpool before Thursday's transfer deadline, according to a reliable journalist.

The Telegraph has claimed that the Merseysiders are ready to sanction the exit of the Belgium international in what is most likely to be a loan after he slipped down the first-team pecking order.

Kristof Terreur, who covers the Premier League for Belgian publication HLN, reported on his personal Twitter account on Monday morning that Tottenham are waiting in the wings to sign the striker, while there is also interest from French big hitters Marseille.

Origi has featured for just three minutes of Liverpool's opening five fixtures of the season and his status was apparent with Jurgen Klopp's selection for the wins over Arsenal on Sunday and Hoffenheim four days earlier.

Origi was not even on the bench for either match, and he watched on from the stands as Liverpool hammered the Gunners 4-0 at Anfield on Sunday.

Roberto Firmino was once again chosen to lead the front line and responded with his second goal in consecutive matches as a vibrant Liverpool tore the visitors apart.

Daniel Sturridge and youngster Dominic Solanke were selected as the substitute strikers, with the former coming off the bench to score his side's fourth goal with a poacher's header.

Klopp admitted in the aftermath of the triumph that he could be willing to offload Origi before the 31 August transfer window cut-off, but would first need to strengthen with a new signing.
