Newcastle United have been installed as the favourites to sign Arsenal defender Calum Chambers, according to the latest bookmakers odds.

Bet Victor priced the newly-promoted Premier League club at 2/1 on Sunday evening to land the 22-year-old before the transfer window shuts on 3 September.

Newcastle are ahead of a number of top-flight clubs in the betting, with West Ham and Everton both 4/1, while Watford and Crystal Palace are 8/1, and Stoke and Leicester are 12/1.

Chambers, 22, is heading towards the end of a season-long loan at Middlesbrough after slipping down the Arsenal pecking order earlier in the campaign.

The three-times England international has been mainstay of the Boro team this season, starting 24 of their Premier League games despite missing two months with a foot injury.

The north-east outfit have been relegated to the Championship but Chambers has enhanced his reputation after being given an extended run in his favourite centre-back position.

He is likely to command much interest in the summer transfer window, although it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will be keen to offload him on either a permanent deal or another loan.
