Rangers have been installed joint favourites to sign Hibernian midfielder John McGinn in the January transfer window, according to the latest bookmakers' odds.

Bet Victor priced Pedro Caixinha's side at 8/1 on Friday afternoon to complete a deal for the central midfielder, 22, before 3rd February.

Rangers and Celtic are equal favourites for McGinn's signature, with the duo ahead of Newcastle United and four English Championship clubs, Hull City, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Norwich City (all 10/1).

McGinn, who is a left-footed central midfielder renowned for his creativity, is in fine form after scoring a double for Hibs two weekends ago in their memorable 2-2 draw against Celtic at Parkhead.

He has adjusted well to life in the Scottish Premiership after an outstanding campaign in 2016-17, in which he scored five goals and 10 assists from 37 matches as Neil Lennon's outfit cruised to the Championship title.

Glasgow-born McGinn, who joined Hibs from St Mirren in the summer of 2015, has a contract that runs until the summer of 2019.
