Betting update: Alex Neil new second-fave for Rangers job
Preston manager Alex Neil is the new second-favourite to become the next permanent Rangers boss, according to the latest bookmakers' odds.
BetVictor have priced Neil, 36, at 5/1 to be in charge at Ibrox for the first game of next season while Frank de Boer remains the 4/1 favourite.
Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke (8/1) is also in the running, with it looking extremely likely that Graeme Murty will be replaced in the coming months after the heavy 4-0 defeat to Celtic on Sunday.
Neil began his management career in the Scottish Premiership with Hamilton where at the start of the 2014/15 season he managed to get the Accies' first away from win against Celtic in 76 years.
He joined Norwich in 2015 and helped them to promotion to the Premier League by winning the play-offs, however a season later he quit Carrow Road after the Canaries were instantly relegated.
The 36-year-old then joined Preston last summer to replace Simon Grayson.

There is still not a massive rush for the Rangers board to find a new manager. If they wait until the season has ended, there should be some more people made available that they could potentially go for and it's better to wait rather than rush in now. It seems that there has been very little thought about who will replace Murty over the last few months, but they should at the very least have a shortlist of a few names by now. De Boer should not be one of them but Neil is an interesting choice. He has done steady jobs at every club he has managed and could do very well at Ibrox.
