Borussia Dortmund cannot currently afford a permanent deal for Man United star Jadon Sancho, sources have told Football Insider.

The 24-year-old spent the second half of the 2023-24 campaign at the Bundesliga club, making 18 starts in 21 total appearances.

Sancho's second spell at Dortmund came to an end on Saturday (1 June) with the Champions League final loss against Real Madrid at Wembley.

Sources say Edin Terzic's outfit "would love" to have the winger back on another loan deal in the 2024-25 campaign.

However, due to Man United's hefty asking price, Dortmund can't currently sanction a permanent swoop for Sancho.

The Red Devils paid the Bundesliga side a reported £73million to land him in 2021 and will demand to recoup a big portion of that fee if he is sold.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that other top clubs around Europe are keeping tabs on the situation as it unfolds this summer.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (3 June) that Sancho will not return to the Man United first-team while Erik ten Hag remains in charge.

The pair fell out publicly last year (2023) after a disagreement over the winger’s training levels.

Sancho, who last played for England in 2021, is under contract at Old Trafford until June 2026.

He has managed 12 goals and six assists in 82 appearances across all competitions for Man United.
