Tottenham Hotspur could lose Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer amid interest from two top European clubs.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid are interested in signing the defensive midfielder.

Hojbjerg impressed during his performances at the European Championships with Denmark, and sources say he is keen to move to Serie A.

The midfielder recently hired a new agent to find him a new football club this summer, as he wants to guarantee himself more first-team football.

Despite being a regular throughout his tenure at Spurs, Hojbjerg fell out of favour last season under Ange Postecoglou.

Even though he was named in the squad for every Premier League game, Hojbjerg only made eight starts.

Tottenham could look to strengthen if Hojbjerg leaves

Should the 28-year-old leave, the door would be open for Spurs to recruit another central midfielder this summer to replace him.

The Premier League side have been in the window for someone in this position for a while, with Conor Gallagher previously being a target.

However, Football Insider revealed that the Chelsea man is unlikely to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

Tottenham have already signed one midfielder this summer in Archie Gray, who joined the club from Leeds United for £40million.

However, he’s a versatile player who could end up spending his time at right-back rather than in the heart of the midfield.
