Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Brendan Rodgers will already be putting forward his summer transfer plan to Celtic chiefs.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 67-year-old – who served as CEO at Aberdeen between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the Hoops boss "won't be happy" with the club's January business.

Celtic made two signings in the mid-season window, bringing Jeffrey Schlupp in on loan from Crystal Palace and securing a permanent return for winger Jota.

Meanwhile, top scorer Kyogo Furuhashi moved in the opposite direction to the Portuguese winger - joining Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais.

The Hoops had identified the Denmark Under-21 international as a replacement for Furuhashi.

Celtic boss Rodgers submitting 'big summer plans', says Wyness

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “The money was there for Celtic to spend, and I think they tried.

“But January is always a hard window, and they weren’t going to overpay. They had a few deals which didn’t quite work.

“Tierney not coming until the summer, that surprised me.

“Certainly up front, they will be short without Kyogo’s goals. They’ve got one recognised striker, Idah, who is in form - they can manage.

Celtic

“I’m sure Brendan will not be happy that he didn’t strengthen - particularly up front.

“Nevertheless, there is money in the bank and you can bet he is putting forward some big plans for the summer.”
