Brighton and Fulham have made late January loan bids for Serge Gnabry, Football Insider sources understand.

Arsene Wenger admitted in the wake of the Gunners' 2-1 FA Cup fourth-round win over Burnley that Gnabry is set to head out on loan in the final hours of the window.

The manager is keen for the young winger to get some first-experience after Arsenal recalled him from his disastrous loan spell at West Brom earlier this month.

Gnabry is likely to move to a Championship club, with Brighton and Fulham among those interesting in taking him for the rest of the season.

Both clubs want more firepower in the second half of the campaign, with the west Londoners in the market for a loan player after agreeing to

sell striker Moussa Dembele to Tottenham for an initial £1.7million

Green light: Wenger will sanction another loan move for Serge Gnabry

The 20-year-old German's season-long loan was cut short by Arsenal after a difficult spell at the Hawthorns under manager Tony Pulis.

Speaking about Gnabry at his post-match media conference on Saturday afternoon, Wenger said: "I am tempted to give him some competition because he has not played at West Brom. I am tempted to let him go somewhere to do with him what I did with Coquelin, somewhere for a month or two."

The winger played only 12 minutes of Premier League football after signing in August, leading to frustration at Arsenal that he was not getting any action.

Gnabry did not appear for West Brom following the 3-0 League Cup defeat at Norwich on 23 September.

Pulis admitted earlier this season that the Germany under-21 international was not "at that level to play games" and he barely figured in Albion's matchday squads.

However, Arsenal rate him highly and believe his development would be better served by playing competitive football in the Championship.
