Gabriel Magalhaes took to social media to send a message to Arsenal fans their win vs Brentford in the Premier League.

The centre-back helped the Gunners beat their London rivals 3-1 on Wednesday (1 January) as they cut the gap to the top of the table to six.

Despite an early scare from Bryan Mbuemo, goals from Gabriel Jesus, Mikel Merino and Gabriel Martinelli secured the victory.

The Brazilian took to Instagram to celebrate the win and captioned his post: “Happy New year GUNNERS!! Let's go together!”

Arsenal teammates Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and defensive partner William Saliba all sent appreciation by liking the post.

Arsenal remain in the title race despite recent slip-ups

Football Insider opinion

The recent news of star player Saka being sidelined for several months due to injury has presented a significant challenge for Arteta’s side.

An away trip to Brentford could have been particularly daunting, given Thomas Frank’s team has only lost once at home this season. However, Arsenal’s imperious away record in 2024 has continued into the new year.

That said, conceding goals away from home remains a problem for the Gunners. Gabriel and Saliba have been formidable at the back, yet the team hasn’t kept an away clean sheet since their September derby against North London rivals Tottenham.

Another potential challenge is the winger position. With constant links to potential attackers, the club is reportedly in the market for a Saka replacement.

However, Ethan Nwaneri’s player-of-the-match performance against the Bees might give Arteta pause for thought.

The young talent could provide a temporary solution and lessen the urgency to dip into the transfer market.

What’s crucial now is for Arsenal to maintain their winning momentum. Liverpool looks unstoppable and currently hold a six-point lead.

If Arteta wants to avoid finishing as runners-up yet again, he must find solutions—and quickly. Resolving defensive issues and maintaining attacking sharpness will be key to closing the gap.
