Everton are hopeful Dominic Calvert-Lewin's hamstring injury is not as serious as initially feared, sources have told Football Insider.

Calvert-Lewin, 27, sustained the hamstring injury in last weekend's (25 January) win over Brighton and is set to see a specialist over the problem.

Everton are hopeful that the hamstring injury is not a serious tear and that he will be sidelined for up to eight weeks.

That prognosis will mean he can make a return for the final two months of the season.

Calvert-Lewin had shaken off his historic injury issues prior to the Brighton game, featuring in all of Everton's 22 Premier League games this term.

He has started in 19 of those outings, notching three goals and one assist.

The striker's injury comes in what could be his last season at Everton, as his contract is set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Everton hopeful Calvert-Lewin will only miss eight weeks

Football Insider revealed earlier this month (17 January) that Newcastle are lining up a move to sign Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer.

His absence will be felt harshly by Everton, who are the second-lowest scorers (19 goals) in the Premier League this term.

On-loan striker Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti are also on the treatment table at Goodison Park.

Brighton Leicester West Ham Everton

Former England international Paul Robinson has told Football Insider (31 January) Everton and West Ham are set to battle it out to sign Brighton's Evan Ferguson before the 3 February transfer deadline.

David Moyes' side sit 16th in the Premier League after back-to-back wins against Tottenham and Brighton.
