Carter-Vickers may quit Celtic to return to Tottenham - ex-Scotland manager
Alex McLeish has suggested Cameron Carter-Vickers may want to return to Tottenham rather than sign a permanent deal at Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland manager insisted the 23-year-old has put himself in a good position for his future during his loan spell at Parkhead.
As quoted by the Daily Record last weekend (25 December), Ange Postecoglou confirmed he wants Carter-Vickers tied down to a permanent deal.
Spurs reportedly value the defender at around the £6million mark.
The Australian manager revealed the Hoops would explore the possibility of a full transfer during the January transfer window.
However, McLeish suggested the centre-back might want to leave his options open ahead of the summer.
"I think Carter-Vickers is not in a bad position," McLeish told Football Insider's Russell Edge.
"He can go back to his parent club, Spurs, take all that experience he's had at Celtic and really push for a place in the Spurs team.
"Okay, that might be a little bit beyond him at the moment, but it certainly hasn't done him any harm, the Celtic experience.
"In the beginning, he looked a wee bit off the pace, more of a casual look. Since then, he's really upped his game. You've seen what kind of player that he could become.
Discussing the reported £6million valuation, McLeish said: "It's an English fee, isn't it? It's probably chicken feed to them.
"We in Scotland would say that is a lot of money for a Scottish club."
Carter-Vickers has been a mainstay under Postecoglou since joining the Bhoys.
He has made 24 appearances and scored two goals so far.
