Jack Hendry fears he won't play for Celtic again after rejecting a deadline-day transfer to Kilmarnock, Football Insider understands.

But Hendry refused to head to Kilmarnock on loan and Taylor ended up signing for Celtic in a straight-cash deal with no players in exchange.

A Celtic source has told Football Insider that Hendry is concerned his Hoops career could be over and that he will remain frozen out until the January window.

The club had held extensive negotiations for the £1.2million signing from Dundee to leave over the summer and were confident an agreement had been reached before the player's late U-turn.

Neil Lennon had given the green light for the Scotland international to go out loan after he failed to make a matchday squad in the first months of this season.

Hendry has seen his Celtic career go into freefall since Lennon took over as manager in February and has failed to add to his 26 appearances for the club, which all came under Brendan Rodgers.

He is not only behind Christopher Jullien, Kristoffer Ajer, Jozo Simunovic and Nir Bitton in the centre-back pecking order, but Lennon would likely turn to other alternative options - including right-back Hatem Abd Elhamed ahead of him.

Hendry has a contract with Celtic that runs until the summer of 2022.
