Celtic expert makes Hyeongyu Oh claim after confirmed news - 'he was not the man'
Frank McAvennie has insisted Hyeongyu Oh is exactly the kind of player Ange Postecoglou has been missing at Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker suggested Oh's similar style to Kyogo Furuhashi is just what they need to replace Giorgos Giakoumakis.
On 25 January, the Celts confirmed the signing of the 21-year-old on a five-year deal.
Speaking to club media (26 January), the striker said that he is a player that is "very strong in the penalty box" and can "take a good position when there's a chance".
Speaking in his press conference on Friday (27 January), boss Ange Postecoglou said that the South Korea international will add a "physical presence" in the front third.
When asked if Oh is the type of forward Celtic need to add, McAvennie told Football Insider: "That is why I think Giakoumakis was not the man for Ange.
"He tried hard, he was chasing about, but his movement was not as good as Kyogo's. I think Celtic missed that when he did not play.
"As a player that used to play as a striker and midfielder, I know what it is like when a striker makes a move, they create so much space for the midfield players. I think that is what Ange works his philosophy round.
"He wants everyone moving. I think Ange wants everything quick and that is what he wants his team to be like, there is no rest with them."
