Celtic expert shares verdict on Graham Potter appointment after source's reveal

Celtic and West Ham legend Frank McAvennie joined the Football Insider stable in June 2020 and has not disappointed with his own brand of unique punditry. He loves talking football almost as much as he loved scoring goals, and still has close links in the dressing room at Parkhead.

Graham Potter doesn't want to join Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie insisted managers like Potter are "out of the picture" for the vacant manager's job at Parkhead.

The former Chelsea boss has been out of work since being sacked by the London club earlier this season and is one of the names that has been linked with replacing Postecoglou.

Potter is believed to be keen to return to top-level management after taking a short break at the end of the 2022-23 campaign following his exit from Stamford Bridge but opted against the top job at the King Power Stadium.

The Hoops are in search of a new manager to replace the vacancy left by Ange Postecoglou after it was confirmed he would be taking over at Tottenham.

McAvennie doesn't think Potter is the man for the job.

"They are talking about Potter coming up here, I don't see it happening," he told Football Insider.

Celtic

"He is not going to take a cut on what he was getting at Chelsea to sign with Celtic.

"I would take managers like him out of the picture, they are not going to come up here but it is going to be somebody that is already out of a job."
