Celtic put their fans through the wringer on Tuesday afternoon, after a spirited display from Astana in the second leg of their Champions League play-off.

With a 5-0 lead from the first leg it seemed unthinkable that Celtic wouldn't progress easily.

However, in the end the one solitary away goal from Celtic proved really important as the Scottish champions basically unravelled in the Astana Stadium in Kazakhstan.

They were down 4-1 midway through the second half as Astana poured forward and missed more easy chances to make the tie even closer.

In the end a 4-3 defeat was only detrimental in terms of how Celtic psychologically approach the competition going forward.

But if Scott Sinclair hadn't scored the all-important away goal in the first half it could have been a totally different story.

None of the Celtic players came away covered in glory tonight but the normally dependable captain Scott Brown came in for heavy criticism over mistakes he made that lead to goals.

Here is a selection of the reactions from relieved Celtic fans after the match was over.

Celtic fans will now switch their attention to the other fixtures in the later Champions League games, that could have a big effect on their draw in the group stage.

Celtic will go into the much more favourable third pot for the group stage draw if Sevilla, Liverpool, Olympiakos or Napoli fail to go through.
