Celtic have lost out to Bournemouth in their bid to sign Fulham sensation Emerson Hyndman, it was confirmed on Friday.

The Scottish Sun reported last month that the newly-crowned champions were ready to battle clubs in England and across Europe for the highly rated midfielder.

But Fulham announced on their website on Friday afternoon that Hyndman will join Bournemouth when his contract with the west Londoners expires on 30 June.

The Craven Cottage club confirmed that the Premier League club will pay a compensation fee for the 20-year-old, who joined the Fulham academy aged 15.

The USA international  joined the Fulham academy in 2012 and broke into the first team in 2014.

He made 16 Championship appearances for the Londoners this season and started in three of Fulham’s final six games of the season.

Hyndman, who can play in either central midfield or a wide midfield position, was an ever-present in the London club's run to the FA Youth Cup final in 2013-14, scoring three times.
