Neil Lennon reveals what has been 'incredible' about Rangers

Hibernian manager Neil Lennon believes that it is simply "incredible" that Rangers have been unable to find a new manager over four weeks after Pedro Caixinha was sacked by the Ibrox board.

The Light Blues are yet to make any significant gains in their search for a successor to the Portuguese, who was dismissed in October after overseeing a glut of humiliating results in his seven months in charge.

Celtic hero Lennon reckons that the Gers are struggling because of a lack of funding available to them.

It was widely reported that Aberdeen's Derek McInnes was the number one target of Rangers, but with an £800,000 compensation fee to release him from his job at Pittodrie, it seemed that the Glasgow club had no way of trying to bring him in.

And that is the belief that Lennon shares as he has claimed that the Gers are now most likely to bring in someone who is currently unemployed.

"It's incredible, it's unprecedented. I don't have a clue what goes on behind the scenes there but what it does look like is it'll be someone out of work because it looks like they're not going to have the money to pay compensation," Lennon said as shown on Facebook live on Sunday by BT Sport.

"Derek McInnes was the obvious choice. I do think it's finances yes.

He added: "I think they're stuck between a rock and a hard place. Are they looking for short-term or a long-term one? I'm not sure they have the minute at the moment because it seems they're still paying off Caixinha's package."

SkyBet currently have Alex McLeish, who is out of work, priced as evens favourite to be named as the next Rangers boss, although that notion has been met with some resentment from the fans, who now seem to be out of patience.

Back-to-back defeats against Hamilton and most recently Dundee has sparked fury among the Ibrox faithful about the decision-making process that is going on behind the scenes.

In other Rangers news, Lennon has also launched a brutal swipe at the Gers.
