Alan Hutton has backed Alistair Johnston to withstand the pressure at Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers defender said the cultural differences will be the "biggest change" for Johnston if he makes the move to Glasgow.

According to the Daily Record (28 November), the Celts are confident the 24-year-old will complete a move in January after thrashing out a deal with Montreal FC worth up to £3million.

The Hoops are believed to have agreed terms with the full-back and he is viewed as a potential replacement for Josip Juranovic.

When asked if Johnston will struggle to make the change from the MLS to the Scottish Premiership, Hutton told Football Insider: "I do not think so.

"I think the biggest change for him will be a culture thing and moving country. That will be the biggest thing for him.

"Could you say that it is slightly higher standard? Possibly.

"I think when you come in to Celtic and Rangers it is the pressure you are under to constantly win, to try and pick up trophies, European games, so that is something that he will have to get used to.

"He is a young player, I have watched him and he plays with no fear. I do not see why it would be a real problem for him."
