Celtic have been told they will have to pay £2million to land Millwall striker Lee Gregory, according to a report.

The 27-year-old was in prolific form for the Lions in the 2015-16 season with 26 goals in 53 appearances in all competitions and 18 League One strikes on the way to the play-off final.

As reported by Football Insider, Gregory is attracting the attention of Championship clubs QPR and Sheffield Wednesday as well as Scottish giants Celtic.

The Sun claim Millwall have placed a £2million valuation on the prolific former team-mate of England international Jamie Vardy.

Gregory signed a three-year deal when arrived at Millwall in 2014 and is now entering the final 12 months of the agreement.

New Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is on the lookout for a front man that can partner or provide competition for Leigh Griffiths, who scored 40 goals in all competitions this season.

However, Celtic's budget means that Rodgers must be creative with his buys and League One striker Gregory could be an excellent option as he will not command the same fee as a top flight or even Championship club player.

Gregory once partnered Jamie Vardy at Halifax Town, but has so far taken a slower route up the leagues than his former team mate.

The Englishman just managed to outscore his former team mate this season with Leicester sensation Vardy grabbing 24 goals on the way to the Foxes lifting the Premier League trophy.

Millwall have insisted on several occasions that they do not need to sell their star striker and want Gregory to stay at the Den and spearhead a second push for promotion next season.

In other Celtic news, a young attacker has signed a contract extension with the Hoops.
