Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino and his coaches have been unimpressed by the development of Mykhaylo Mudryk since their arrival, sources have told Football Insider.

The 23-year-old joined the Blues last year (2023) but has struggled to nail down a regular place in the starting lineup at Stamford Bridge.

And in a new twist, it is believed Chelsea will be in the market for a marquee new winger signing as they look to refresh their attack once again this summer.

The Spain international will be available via a £43million release clause in his contract with Athletic.

Chelsea plot new winger signing after Mudryk development

Sources say Pochettino and his backroom staff have grown frustrated with a lack of impact from Mudryk and teammate Raheem Sterling.

The Ukraine international has made 33 appearances for Chelsea this term - starting in 16 of those outings.

He has returned six goals and three assists playing almost exclusively on the left-hand side.

Mudryk, who was previously wanted by Arsenal, joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 for a reported fee of £88.5million.

He signed a huge contract at Stamford Bridge which runs until June 2031.

Pochettino's side sit ninth in the Premier League but could sneak into a European qualification place before the end of the season next month.

The Blues also face a crucial FA Cup semi-final against Man City later this month (20 April).
