Chelsea supporters did not like what they saw just minutes into their Champions League clash at Azerbaijan side Qarabag.

Following Chelsea's 5-1 thrashing of Ajax in their last Champions League match, Enzo Maresca's side were looking to move into the top eight of the league phase table.

Maresca's side made the long trip to Qarabag off the back of two Premier League victories, including Chelsea's dominant 1-0 win over Spurs.

The Italian had made seven changes for the match, in a bid to protect key players, but plans soon had to be changed early on.

Romeo Lavia picks up injury

Moises Caicedo was on the bench for the game, with 21-year-old Romeo Lavia handed a rare start in midfield.

However, just eight minutes into the game Lavia picked up an injury and was forced off to be replaced by Caicedo.

Lavia has struggled with injuries at Chelsea, and fans were undoubtedly frustrated at his latest setback.

One fan said: "Lavia it’s not even been a real pleasure , need him to leave for his sake. top flight isn’t his bag."

Another fan also called for Lavia to be sold: "Sell that Lavia guy, i believe Baleba is better than his kund of playing style."

"I am really sad about Lavia's injury issues, but we must be realistic; he is looking like he has no future at Chelsea," a fan commented.

"Lavia needs to be sold in the summer," was a constant message from supporters.

One fan compared Lavia to former Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby: "Lavia is giving off serious Abou Diaby vibes. Geezers legs are made of sugar paper."

"Lavia is a really talented footballer, but his injury record is woeful. He's gotta go I'm afraid, he can't even stay fit long enough to be a bit part player," was another comment.

Caicedo subject to more minutes

Caicedo has played 855 minutes of Premier League action this season, and is an integral part of Chelsea's midfield.

The 24-year-old was going to get a much needed rest before Lavia's injury, with Enzo Fernandez also rested.

Chelsea are building up a heavy injury list, with Cole Palmer and Neto two of the names currently on the treatment table.
