Chelsea fans were left furious with referee Andy Madley after Wilfred Ndidi didn't receive a red card for his challenge on Cole Palmer in their 2-1 win over Leicester on Saturday (November 23).

Ndidi, 27, dragged his studs down the back of the 22-year-old's right leg, leaving Palmer writhing in pain at the King Power Stadium.

Madley brandished the yellow card before VAR checked the decision, but the initial punishment was deemed sufficient enough, and the Nigeria international remained on the pitch.

Palmer was able to continue, nearly bagging his eighth Premier League goal of the season but teammate Noni Madueke accidentally cleared his shot off the Leicester goal line.

Thankfully for Maresca's side, Nicolas Jackson and acting captain Enzo Fernandez were on hand to score the goals, secure all three points, and keep Chelsea in the Champions League spots.

Andre Ayew converted a late penalty after Romeo Lavia's challenge Bobby De Cordova-Reid, but it was too little too late for the home side as pressure mounts on manager Steve Cooper.

Chelsea fans call for Wilfred Ndidi red card after Cole Palmer challenge

The England international continues his remarkable rise this season, sitting just behind Mohamed Salah in terms of goal contributions with 12.

Losing their main man through injury could prove devastating, and Chelsea fans have taken to X, formally known as Twitter, to call for more protection for Palmer.
