Chelsea may regret appointing Graham Potter after Sky reveal - pundit
Frank McAvennie has claimed Graham Potter is not ready to take over a "big club" like Chelsea.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said the pressure at Stamford Bridge is much higher than at Brighton.
On Thursday (8 September), Sky Sports reported that Potter has verbally agreed to become the new head coach for the Blues.
On Thursday (8 September), sources told this site that Chelsea held overnight talks with Mauricio Pochettino.
It comes after the London club confirmed they have parted ways with Thomas Tuchel on Wednesday (7 September).
The Blues had won three out of their opening six Premier League games under Tuchel.
When asked if Potter would be ready to manage a club like Chelsea, McAvennie told Football Insider: "I don’t know.
"By all accounts he’ll go in and he’ll do a job. There’s no doubting he’s a good coach but he’s walking in to superstars.
"No disrespect to Brighton, but if you get beat they don’t mind. You can’t get beat at Chelsea that’s a cardinal sin. The pressure is on.
"The every day running of the club is different to Brighton. Is he ready? I’m not sure. Whether he’s up for it I’m not sure because it’s a big club.
"If they just sacked Tuchel for nothing then you think ‘wow’ what are they going to do with him if they lose a couple of games."
