Son Heung-min received a two-word message from Cristian Romero as rumours swirl around the attacker's future at Tottenham.

The 33-year-old has become a legendary figure in North London, closing in on 500 appearances for the Lilywhites since signing from Bayer Leverkusen a decade ago, but he may not make it there.

Despite 11 goals and 11 assists across all competitions last season, Tottenham fans were hugely critical of Son's performances, with many ready to cash in on the winger ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Saudi Pro League clubs have emerged as a potential destination this summer, but according to The Telegraph (24 July), Thomas Frank's side have received a bid from LAFC for the player's signature.

It is unclear what the player wants at this point in time, but with the squad jetting out to South Korea for a pre-season tour, there will be no resolution to Son's future until the players return to North London.

Taking to Instagram stories (24 July), Romero wrote: "Good morning, Son Heung-min," while grabbing footage of the South Korean forward alongside a group on the treatment tables.

The duo continue to be linked with exits, though Romero is expected to have new contract talks with Tottenham chiefs after Atletico Madrid's move for the defender breaks down.

Thomas Frank prepares for first season at Tottenham

Football Insider verdict

Currently, Thomas Frank will be planning for the new season with the club captain, who has notched 179 goals and 101 assists for Spurs, but that could all change over the coming weeks.

Mohammed Kudus has already arrived from West Ham on a £55million deal [BBC Sport], adding more firepower to the attack, bagging his first goal contribution in a 2-0 win over Reading last week.

Much less business has been done since signing the Ghanaian, though Tottenham have attempted to "illegally" sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest, and are expected to seal a deal this summer.

Football Insider understands that Bournemouth would accept £60m for Illia Zabarnyi from Tottenham, and that transfer link has thrown more uncertainty over Romero's future.

Last season was extremely difficult for all involved in North London, at least until the squad lifted the Europa League title, until chaos ensued following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou.

Frank has some major challenges to overcome if Spurs are to climb up the Premier League table next season, and he may yet have to do it without two of his most experienced players.
