Crystal Palace will look to move Odsonne Edouard on permanently if his loan spell with Leicester City is cut short in the January transfer window.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected as he exclusively told Football Insider that Palace would use the money to reinvest in their own squad.

In his short spell at the King Power Stadium, Edouard has made just four Premier League appearances despite their lack of options to lead the line.

The termination of his loan deal would allow Leicester to explore another loan addition in January, which could be crucial to their attempt at Premier League survival.

However, Palace boss Oliver Glasner was dismissive about the idea of a return as he shared: "From our side, it makes no sense to bring him back because if he’s not playing at Leicester, then why should he play for Crystal Palace?"

A return to Selhurst Park may open up its own possibilities though, as Palace have been tipped to look for a permanent move for the striker should interest arise.

As part of his move to Leicester, Edouard signed a new one-year extension at Palace until 2026 to protect his value ahead of a potential future sale, which they could now capitalise on.

Crystal Palace could cash in on Odsonne Edouard after Leicester loan twist

Now, the former scout, who has a wealth of experience in player recruitment at the top level after over a decade with Man United during their most successful period, has insisted that they could use the opportunity to raise funds in January.

"I hear Palace would like to move him on permanently [if his loan is cut short]," he told Football Insider.

"That would allow them to make some money from his sale which could be invested in the squad.

"But that will depend on whether there are any clubs out there who will be looking to sign him after he's failed to make an impact for Leicester.

"They've been struggling for strikers and he can't get in there, so you have to wonder what his level is.

"He's gone on loan because there's no place for him in their squad, they've already got Mateta and Eddie Nketiah there.

"So if he doesn't have a place at Leicester, and Palace don't want him, he could leave on a permanent deal and I'm sure Palace would be happy to do that deal.

"It would then allow them to use the money and reinvest it towards strengthening their squad."
