CSKA Moscow have opened the door for Rangers to sign Sasa Zdjelar in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that CSKA Moscow are willing to let the 29-year-old leave the club this month.

Zdjelar’s contract at the Russian club expires at the end of this season, and they are willing to let him leave for a nominal fee in January rather than letting him run down his contract.

This could open up the chance for Rangers to sign the Serbia international on a cut price as CSKA Moscow attempts to cash in on him.

Zdjelar is a more defensive-minded midfielder than players the Gers have previously been linked with, but they are looking to improve the squad this month.

Rangers are targeting cut-price signings like Sasa Zdjelar

Well-placed sources have informed Football Insider that Rangers are shopping for players who are coming to the end of their contracts that they can sign on cut-price deals.

The Gers cannot afford big transfer fees right now which is a difference between them and Celtic.

That is leading the Gers to look for lesser-known commodities to strengthen their squad in order to compete at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers

The Serbia international is currently a regular in the CSKA Moscow team, having played 21 times this season in all competitions.

Zdjelar has played 96 times for CSKA Moscow since joining the club in 2022, being a key member of the squad during that time.
