'Cut it out' - Exclusive: Alan Hutton frets over Rangers mainstay proving a weakness at Ibrox
Alan Hutton claims that Rangers' rivals could target defender Connor Goldson as a weakness if he fails to improve the manner in which he starts games this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Gers and Scotland star says that the 26-year-old has looked a little bit shaky at the beginning of matches and that it is something that the opposition could look to exploit.
The ex-Brighton powerhouse has been a mainstay for Steven Gerrard since swapping England's south coast for Glasgow, playing a total of 77 times in less than a year-and-a-half at Ibrox,
However, Hutton says he has noticed that the centre-back tends to have a nervy opening 15 minutes of games and says that he needs to fix that or face getting punished.
Hutton told Football Insider: "The Ross County game, the first five, ten minutes he looked a little bit nervy and I don't know why. I think he seems to have a little bit of that in him, I don't know if it's just a little bit of nerves.
"He plays out of it, don't get me wrong, it's not like he's gone on a downward spiral and had a bad game. He just has to cut it out, those little mistakes for the first 10, 15 minutes because other teams are going to see this and that's what they're going to target.
"He just has to be careful, just start better. I don't like getting at him because he has done well, it's just something he needs to work on."
Goldson has played a total of 23 times across all competitions for Rangers this season, missing just the League Cup win over East Fife back in August, netting four goals at the other end of the pitch.
Gerrard has a number of centre-backs to call upon at Ibrox, having rotated between the likes of Nikola Katic and summer signing Filip Helander throughout the campaign.
