Championship trio Derby County, Huddersfield Town and Swansea City are chasing Fleetwood star Kyle Dempsey, Football Insider understands.

Midfield dynamo Dempsey has been earning rave reviews in recent weeks after winning his place back in Joey Barton's starting line-up.

A Fleetwood source has told Football Insider that the 24-year-old's eye-catching performances in midfield have alerted a number of clubs, including the likes of Derby, Huddersfield and Swansea.

Scouts from the Championship big hitters are making regular trips to cast an eye over Dempsey in action.

He has started the last six League One games and has been instrumental in Fleetwood's climb up to fourth in the table, with four wins from their last six games.

Dempsey is out of contract at Highbury next summer and his suitors are ready to test Fleetwood's resolve to hang onto the central midfielder when the transfer window reopens in January.

Derby, Swansea and Huddersfield all have the financial power to make the League One outfit an offer they can't refuse for him.

Dempsey has played 123 matches for Fleetwood since signing in 2016, initially on loan.

He has previously played for Huddersfield and Carlisle United, as well as had a spell on loan at Peterborough United.

Most of his career has been spent in League One and League Two, but he has also made 21 appearances in the Championship.
